It hurts when I exercise — should I continue?

If an exercise causes sharp or increasing pain: stop.

Some muscle fatigue and mild discomfort during rehabilitation is normal. Sharp pain, pain that gets worse with each repetition, swelling, or pain that lingers long after exercising is not.

What to do

  1. Stop the exercise that hurts. You can usually continue the rest of your program unless your therapist said otherwise.
  2. Contact your therapist — not us — and describe what hurts and during which exercise. They prescribed your program and are the right person to adapt it.
  3. For severe or alarming symptoms, contact your doctor or emergency services.

Move8 support can help with technical problems (links, videos), but we cannot give medical advice — your therapist knows your case.

Still stuck? We're happy to help directly.
