Recovery from injury or surgery requires patience and consistency. Here are five common mistakes that can slow your progress:
1. Skipping rest days
Your body needs time to repair. Pushing through every day without rest can lead to overuse injuries and setbacks.
2. Ignoring pain signals
Mild discomfort during exercises is normal, but sharp or increasing pain is your body telling you to stop. Always communicate pain changes to your therapist.
3. Inconsistent exercise routine
Doing exercises sporadically is far less effective than a consistent daily routine, even if sessions are shorter.
4. Poor sleep habits
Sleep is when your body does most of its repair work. Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night.
5. Neglecting nutrition
Your body needs proper fuel to heal. Focus on protein for tissue repair, anti-inflammatory foods, and staying well-hydrated.
