Your diet plays a crucial role in how quickly and effectively you recover. Here are the essential nutrients to focus on:
Protein — The building block of tissue repair. Aim for 1.2-1.6g per kg of body weight daily. Good sources: chicken, fish, eggs, Greek yoghurt, legumes.
Vitamin C — Essential for collagen production and wound healing. Found in citrus fruits, bell peppers, strawberries, and broccoli.
Omega-3 fatty acids — Natural anti-inflammatories. Found in salmon, sardines, walnuts, and flaxseed.
Zinc — Supports immune function and cell growth. Found in meat, shellfish, seeds, and nuts.
Water — Dehydration slows healing and increases pain sensitivity. Aim for 2-3 litres daily.
